Same configuration as the error shown above is displayed as well. This failure happened when I was installing the Service Pack 1 in February 2011.

In addition, when the revert of the changes made in uninstalling the Service Pack is complete, some core Windows Files ended up corrupted (pointing to 'ntdll.dll'), causing all system tray applications and internet browsers to be unable to open. Bootup screen shows 'Error C000009A applying update operation 131241 of 482291 (\Registry\.) Update: Uninstall of Service Pack failed big time! Error encountered in configuring the uninstallation of the Service Pack.
Will reply the results after the attempt is complete (uninstall SP1, install Sonic Heroes followed by applying the patch again using the offline SP1 installer previously downloaded from Microsoft Download Center since the SP1 installer from Microsoft Update That's exactly what I am trying to avoid doing but since there's no other viable option.
